Customer Reviews
After forcing me to pay for my razor in cosmetics (therefore forcing me to pay for the rest of my items there also), providing no "exit" through which i can exit except for another register, i decided to go through an "entrance". Immediately upon going through the bars, the alarm sounded and the bars closed on me. A clearly marked walmart employee stepped in front of my basket and asked for my receipt. Knowing there is no legal obligation to provide a receipt for items I've already paid for, I refused. At this time I noticed another man standing in front of me preventing me from leaving. He was not wearing any identification or identifying clothing, so I asked who he was. He said he was with asset protection and again asked me for my receipt. I refused again and asked why I was being detained illegally. He said I wasn't even though they had stood in front of my basket and asked me for my receipt. While I was walking out the asset protection employee yelled that he would be reviewing the video surveillance to see if I stole anything. So not only did he exhibit attitudes and behavior to embarass me but he then admitted that they stopped (illegally seized) me without even so much as "reasonable suspicion." I travel throughout the United States and this has happened at many stores except for asset protection literally threatening to look at video footage. When I asked for a store manager they sent me to the "team lead" sheraton who was trying to invalidate my complaint and discount the gravity of the situation.
