Love this store and so do my children. Come in on any evening and you will find it full of a diverse and enthusiastic crowd of Pokemon and Magic fans. It’s a great place for us to get hard to find cards. The prices are very, very good. The staff is amazing, incredibly patient and will go out of their way to make my children feel comfortable and feel like they can ask questions. They’ve been super helpful in all of their advice for magic deck building. I see that a there is a minority of reviewers that are offended at being asked for their ID because their children are looking at Pokemon cards, or because they don’t “look like thieves”. It’s obvious to anyone that this is an anti-theft policy and it must be applied to all customers without discrimination. This is a simple and effective policy that nice people have no issue complying with.
I went into G.A.M.E.S today as a complete novice to gaming. I asked a ton of questions about a wheel and system I was given for my child and Jesse a games employee gave me so much information about the system I have and whats appropriate for my child's age and looked at my pics and figured out what accessories I had. He was beyond helpful nice and understanding about my lack of knowledge. Go to this store parents and kids thanks so much G.A.M.E.S/Jesse
I can't speak highly enough about this business. The owner and staff are absolutely amazing. I've been here a couple of times to buy games as I'm getting my son into video games. Every member of this staff is knowledgeable and patient. They've taken their time with me and answered all of my questions. I recently purchased minecraft on the 360 for my dons birthday. Unfortunately beyond their control, the disc wouldn't work on my 360...I returned to the store at a busy time and they still found the time to assist me. They worked hard and located another disc cleaned it up, verified it worked and only then sent me on my way. The associate and owner made sure that I would return home to my son a dang hero. Which I did so thank you again gentlemen. The prices are great, the inventory is impressive and even though I'm a little older and not Into gaming like I used to be, they never made me feel out of place. If you like retro gaming THEY HAVE IT ALL. They even fo trading cards. This is the only place that I will be doing my video game purchases from now on and I will be letting everyone I know that if they need anything for them or there kids, this is the place to go. TOP MARKS AND TOP CLASS.
Probably the worst retro game store I’ve been to and I have a few good reasons for that. First, the stuff is way too overpriced. I bought a wii classic controller from there for 45 bucks, but ended up finding it at another place down the street for 15 and it was in better condition. They also won’t refund your money if you want to return something there, they will only give you store credit. Usually a professional store will tell you beforehand that the product is a final sale only and that there are no refunds. The reason why this store doesn’t warn you about the no refund policy before you buy something is because they want to trap you into buying their overpriced games and they are in fear that you will find a much better deal either online or at a different store. Also, I don’t appreciate how every time I go in there all of the countertops are extremely cluttered with random assortments of games, toys, cards, etc. It’s also very annoying when I’m waiting to buy a game for 15-20 minutes because the workers are too busy talking to other customers about their favourite anime series. How about prioritizing customers that are there to actually buy something, not your buddies that are just stopping by to chat about One Piece or whatever. As well, G.A.M.E.S has a binder full of old Pokémon cards. You can pick and choose which ones you want and then purchase them at the cash register. The only problem with this is that they don’t put a price tag on any of the cards. They just expect you to bring them all to the cash register, then the guy quickly takes a look on eBay to see if he’s selling it to you for the right price. Why should I waste my gas driving to your store if I can get the card on eBay for the same price or cheaper? Lastly, I decided to use my store credit (since nobody warned me that I couldn’t get my money back until after I tried to return something) to buy a DS Lite. The only problems with this DS is that it didn’t come with the official stylus, so the guy threw in an off brand one, and the L and R buttons stopped working after only having it for a few months. If I’m spending close to 100 dollars on a DS, the bare minimum is that all the buttons should work for a few years after buying it. If there is something wrong with it (like the buttons not working), you guys shouldn’t be selling it for full price.
the review from a day ago sums up my experience from this store as well. i had shopped here many times while attending school in oshawa but i went for the first time in probably 18 months. asked to see my drivers license to look at yugioh cards? i thought it was a joke but she was serious. id like to think me and my friend dont look like thieves or come across as some oshawa drug addicts. terrible demeanour and a terrible policy. store was also much more cluttered and prices were less than competitive. what use to be an hour well spent turned into 3 minutes down the drain
