Customers have shared mixed experiences with Geek Squad. While some appreciate the convenience of in-store services and the expertise of their technicians, others have expressed dissatisfaction with customer service and repair outcomes. For example, one customer reported feeling taken advantage of during a laptop repair process, while another highlighted issues with poor customer service. These reviews serve as a reminder to approach tech support services with caution and to seek clear communication about repair processes and costs.

Geek Squad also offers additional services such as extended warranties and in-home repairs (available through Best Buy's Geek Squad team). These options provide added convenience for customers who prefer not to visit the store. Additionally, the store often runs promotions or discounts on repair services, making it a good idea to check their current offers before scheduling any work.

Overall, Geek Squad stands out as a key resource for tech support and repairs in the San Jose area. While individual experiences may vary, the store's location, extended hours, and comprehensive services make it a valuable option for anyone needing computer repair or tech assistance. For the best experience, it’s recommended to communicate clearly with their technicians about your expectations and concerns.

I had a Dell laptop with a broken charging port which I left with the Geek Squad for service. The laptop was sent to their service center and a little over a week later I received a call to come in and pick it up. When I went in the Geek Squad service person wanted to test it out and used a power supply they had. The system came up and then went dark. The post-op checklist said that after replacing the charging port all was tested and all was fine. So the laptop was sent back to the service center and I was told that the LCD display had gone bad. I explained that I suspected it was due to an arbitrary power supply being used by the Geek Squad service person and it must have fried the LCD display. I based this on the service center post-op checklist as well as the system coming up for a moment and then going dark. But there's no way I could prove this and I needed the laptop repaired so I authorized the repair. Needless to say, the extra $318 I had to pay for the LCD display when I feel it was due to a Geek Squad service left me feeling like I was taken advantage of...with nothing that I can do. Use caution when dealing with the Geek Squad.

They didn't listen when I told them what was wrong with my computer, did a "repair" that didn't fix a thing and sent it back to me, then when I sent it back in to them they kept it for months before finally deciding they couldn't fix it and offering me a replacement. Their customer service was completely unable or unwilling to do anything to fix their mistake, and was even rude at times. When looking for ways to solve my problem, I googled around and even found an article called "Confessions of a Former Geek Squad Geek" and they said the "Geeks" are primarily trained to upsell customers on more and more services, but receive little to no training on actually fixing devices. This seemed to match up with my experience. If you ignore my advice and use Geek Squad or their protection plan, make sure you document everything they ever tell you, including the names and titles/positions of who told you. Record any phone calls with them if you can. One person will tell you something and another will deny it so you will have to argue with them. They did something similar to me when I was younger when the person who sold me the Xbox said that I'd be able to use the protection plan to upgrade to the 360 came out. When I tried to do that, the person at the store that day said that wasn't true and asked me who told me that. Since I didn't remember their name, they wouldn't honor it. I swore then that I would never shop at Best Buy again, but I guess after so many years I thought there was a chance they had changed. They haven't. Seriously, don't shop at Best Buy if you can avoid it. If you must, never get Geek Squad protection. There are 3rd party companies that will offer better coverage for cheaper.

Don't bother using geek squad at this location. Horrible customer service. Untrained staff. They wanted to keep my computer for 3 months after "looking at the issue". Decided to take my computer to a local computer shop and they fixed the issue in under 10 minutes and didn't even charge me for it!

Best Buy at the Plant in San Jose. I walked in with a Lenovo all in one with a broken screen. Even though they did not fix these they answered all my questions patiently and fully. When asked if they would be able to transfer data they offered to plug it into another monitor to see if the data could be accessed and it worked. I walked out with a solution and they did not ask for a dime. Service like this makes me want to come back and pay for a service. THANK YOU GEEKS!!!
