Ace Hardware Express

More expensive but convenient for me. Over the years have made keys, rented equipment, bought hardware and propane. One time while purchasing propane they had 2 receipts at the inside checker. When I got to the register someone had paid using my lesser amount. I got stuck with the higher dollar purchase. Not great but oh well. A few days ago I called about renting a power pole saw to touch up my 3.7 acres. They said I could get and electric for 4 hours ...Cost of $50. When I picked it up I was told that a battery was $10 and a charger $3. Pretty poor but I paid for it so I could get to work and get it back before they closed. Got a coke and gas on way home. Used it a bit and decided I was not going to be able to make this work. Chain was dull and was not cutting but smoking the wood where I was cutting. Loaded it up to take it back and stopped to visit a neighbor who was outside about 30 minutes. Arrived a Ace Hardware Express rental desk and told them the problem. Thought he would zero the charge. Got home and saw he charged me $67.41. Went back today and manager said (in fine print) on your contract you have 30 minutes to notify them of a problem. She was as right as could be...and they lost a customer for ever. This Ace is owned by Marty Kalsbeek. But Martins Ace on HW 273 is not. I have been treated well at Martins previously so I am now their customer.

Very rude employee. We were in the store getting plumbing supplies. I asked if they had a public restroom. The employees responses was "No, I can get you a bucket, we are not a restaurant." He could have just said no, but the response was rude and uncalled for. I wish I would have gotten his name, but I was so shocked at his response. He was an older man.

My two year old son and I went to check out the plants in the nursery and to check out patio chairs. When we went back into the store, my son saw the little toy stuffed birds that tweet and was so excited and wanted to hear them all. One of the workers, an old man, stepped in front of my two year old and stared him down as if he were going to steal them. I smiled and said hello and told my son to say hello, which he did, and the old man didn’t smile or say anything back. He just stared at as with his arms crossed blocking our path. It was very odd. I guess he wanted to make me and my two year old feel like criminals. I’m glad my two year is innocent and had no idea that was his intention. I did not want to give my money to the establishment, so we went to Home Depot and bought plants there instead.
